Getting to VPBC We are situated on Grove Road at the corner with Bunsen St. We are well located for buses including Numbers 8, 277 & D6.
The nearest tube station is Mile End, which is on the District, Central and Hammersmith & City Lines. Stratford Station is only one stop away which links the DLR and Jubilee Lines.
From Mile End station the church is just a 10 minute walk. The church is in a controlled parking area.
Bow Briefing The area where the church is situated has until recently always been a mixed area with industry and residents sitting cheek by jowl. The creative move to give residential life to old industrial buildings continues to sweep through East London and the Borough of Tower Hamlets is no exception.
Victorian streets, high and low-rise flats, new developments and conversions of old buildings add to the metropolitan diversity. Wealth and poverty, advantage and disadvantage continue to be neighbours in the streets and estates that surround the church building.
We are in the heart of London's East End and located opposite the metropolitan green space, Wennington Green (now part of Mile End Park), which is ideal for picnics and general sports or relaxation. Those using the building for conferences or training can utilise the canal tow-paths for walks, and the beautiful Victoria Park is just a few minutes away.
There are a variety of local shops nearby, as well as cafés, pubs, and the modern Bow Wharf development. The local street market on Roman Road is open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings.
Redevelopment Our vision is to redevelop our building for more space, greater flexibility of use and better access for the church and the community. We have planning permission and are beginning to fund-raise for this.
Community Space If you would like to know more about how you can use part of the building for a one-off or a regular activity we would be pleased to discuss this with you. You can telephone and leave a message on (020) 8981 0735,
us, or call in to the church hall on a Thursday afternoon between 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm. |
